The 1000 watt motor is Italian made and operates at 2 speeds . 13,000 RPMs is powerful enough to handle harder fruits and vegetables. 6,500 RPMs prevents softer fruits and vegetable juice, such as tomatoes and or watermelon, from "leaking" over the top of the spinning filter. Some juicers only spin at 3,000 RPMs. Breville Juicers are the most popular juicers with more market share than any other juicer. You could argue that is the incredible speed of the filter basket (the cutting surface) that has made them so popular. When you turn this juicer on high to juice say, pineapple with the rind still on, it sounds smooth and powerful like a jet engine.
Unlike the Juice Fountain Plus, the Elite model has a "smart" micro-chip technology that determines the load on the motor and adjusts power accordingly. Both the Elite model and the plus models feature a huge 3 inch wide feeder chute that easily takes a whole apple so you don't spend a lot of time chopping of produce. 3 inches doesn't sound very big, but compared to the juiceman its almost 4 times the size. You can also measure how wide an apple is to see just how wide 3 inches can be. When you combine the large chute and the super powerful fast motor you get a juicer that can take whole apples and produce 8 oz of juice in 5 seconds. Essentially this juicer will juice produce about as fast as you can feed it into the chute. For those on the go, this juicer produces juice much faster than any masticating juicer ever could.
All parts are easily disassembled and dishwasher-safe for cleaning up in a cinch.
Breville Juice Fountains gained recent popularity when they featured as having saved the life of two men, in the touching documentary film "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" (an inspiring documentary for anyone - not just those interested in healthy living.)
If you want a juicer with commercial grade qualities this is the juicer for you.
