Juice Performance

There is no doubt that the Breville BJE510XL is an excellent very capable machine.  When you finally get it home and unbox it, it’s impressive.  It looks good on the counter and makes a prestigious statement.  However, when it comes to pure juice performance the Hurom model is a more versatile juicer.  That is because the Hurom is a masitcating juicer.  The Hurom is capable of juicing kale and other leafy greens and wheat grass.  The drawback is the Hurom does require more patience.  It requires more prepping and chop work and is slower.  Performance aside the Breville model certainly is more stylish.

The fast motion of the Breville BJE510XL does introduce more oxidation.  Oxidation is the same process that turns an apple brown after you cut it.  Some say that the high speeds of centrifugal juciers heats up and kills living enzymes.  This is not the case, but the high speed does introduce more oxidation, which is in many ways worse.  Oxidation degrades nutrient quality.  The longer juice sits out after juicing the more the oxidation will have an effect.  Therefore it is important to drink juice immediately after it is made.  As long as you drink juice immediately you can essentially negate the difference in juice quality between the Breville Multi-Speed and the Hurom model.

Juices Continuously

In theory, The Breville Multi-Speed is supposed to juice continuously because it has a separate external pulp container.  However, in practice, it does not juice continuously.  This is because it does not eject juice into the pulp container with 100% efficiency.  Though it is easy to clean out, pulp does build up fast.

On the other hand the Hurom Juicer does juice continuously because it neatly ejects pulp externally with near complete efficiency.

Clean Up

Clean up with the Hurom Slow Juicer is slightly easier.  That is because it juices pulp neatly and because it does not have a filter that is as sensitive to clean as the Breville model.  All centrifugal juicers sling pulp violently in a contained environment.  That pulp will basically get everywhere inside the enclosed system.  However, it is easy enough to clean.  The Hurom masticating juicer does not violently sling pulp.

Summary

Simply put, the Hurom is a good juicer for the more serious juicing enthusiasts who has the patience and wants to be able to juice wheatgrass, berries, and leafy greens.

The Breville Multi-Speed juicer is an excellent all-around model for an active lifestyle.  The model is sleek, inspires confidence, and is very convenient to use.
